1. Put the key in the ignition and turn on – Do not start the car. 2. Hold down the accelerator pedal fully for at least 10 seconds (many suggest 20 seconds). You will feel a little click under your foot at you push down the pedal fully. 3. Release the pedal – turn the key in the ignition. You can now start the car normally
Problem was start/stop switch was intermittent, spraying with contact cleaner worked but not for long. The steering cowl is in two halves, drop steering wheel to lowest position and prize off top one by hand or aided with blade between halves. Lift up out of the way which is restricted by fabric cover.

Posted 7 June, 2019. Specifically on the Citigo: Stop start will only stop the engine if the car is in neutral with your foot off the clutch. Additionally it not operate if the car is on a slope or if the steering wheel is turned past a certain point. To test take the car on a decent clear run for 20 minutes or so.
andyvee. Charge your battery first. It isn't an error, it is a valid reason for Start Stop to be disabled as the battery voltage is too low. My battery charge indicator has not gone above 80%, even after a 3 hour motorway drive in daytime, it isn't a reliable indication of battery charge in my opinion.
Hi Andy, your problem is most likely insufficient charge in battery - either from fading battery (especially if still original) or just needs a charge. The 'power consumption is high' message can translate to low battery volts - or something like AC, power-steering, etc. is actually drawing too much current to allow engine auto-stop to enable.
Try deactivating it & reactivating it as well, sometimes the systems get themselves in a knot, another solution, maybe to disconnect the battery and leave it off for a good 10-30 minutes to allow the current to dissipate and then do a complete reset of the cars systems.
